UNESCO Coalition of Human Rights Organization in New England, U.S.A.

COMMITTED to UNESCO’s objectives to promote human rights, the culture of peace, and human security; to educate people about human rights, justice, liberty and peace; and to disseminate and facilitate the unrestricted exchange of ideas and knowledge about human rights;

SUBSCRIBING to the principle that all human rights are universal, indivisible, interdependent and inter-related;

DEDICATED to work for the flowering of a common humanity based on the principles of the equality, dignity and rights of all human beings and all peoples, irrespective of race, colour, gender and social origin, and of reciprocal respect;

CONCERNED about the dismal state of human rights knowledge in the United States of America;

CONVINCED that through practical solidarity we can address issues of human rights violations wherever they occur, especially among those who are marginalized and denied enjoyment of human rights;

DETERMINED to m
ake a contribution to raising awareness about international human rights through education in the U.S.;

RESOLVING to form a UNESCO Coalition of Human Rights Organizations in the New England region;

WE HEREBY form the said coalition for the purposes of, among other objectives:

  • Coordinating activities of the various human rights organizations;
  • Sharing relevant information about human rights;
  • Collaborating in hosting joint educational activities and training sessions;
  • Providing avenues for students to pursue their interests in human rights issues;
  • Creating a web-site to act as a conveyor belt and information center;
  • Developing educational strategies for peaceful resolution of conflicts;
  • Facilitating understanding and cooperation between people from different backgrounds.
