The Urban and Community Studies Program at the regional campuses has a formal agreement with Capital Community College (CCC) to work with CCC students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in our major. Students at Capital Community College who are interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Community Studies are encouraged to contact Michele White at Capital Community College (860) 906-5104 or at mwhite@ccc.commnet.edu .

As a Capital Community College student, based on your interests, you may choose from two associate degrees at CCC in preparation for a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Community Studies.

  1. Social Service – Associate in Science Degree

The Social Service Degree curriculum has a dual function. It prepares students for entry level career positions in a variety of social service occupations and it provides the first two years of a course of study leading to a baccalaureate degree.

  2. Liberal Arts and Science – Associate in Arts Degree

The liberal arts and science program provides broad education in traditional areas of knowledge and leads to an Associate in Arts degree. This program is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to make further strides toward a baccalaureate degree.

Although other UConn Campuses may also be considered an option, we have specifically designed this program so that students could continue their studies in the Greater Hartford Area. Once at UConn Greater Hartford campus, the UCS major offers a variety of academic options. You may personalize your degree based on your interests and/or career aspirations.
