The coaches of the Academic Achievement Center would like to invite all UConn students to take part in The Coaches’ 4.0 Challenge. The 4.0 Challenge is a pledge to be an intentional student and follow through with commitments to academic achievement. Several of the AAC coaches will take part in the challenge as well, experimenting with new strategies along the way and sharing their experiences on the AAC Coaches’ blog.
- To find out more and sign up for The Coaches’ 4.0 Challenge, please attend the Information and Sign-Up Session on September 14, 2009 at 5pm in CUE 130. Students who have signed up will have access to special topic workshops in addition to regular coaching hours and weekly skill workshops in the AAC. The sign-up process is simple and requires that students share basic contact information and set academic goals for the semester. The challenge requires identifying and following through with the specific tasks and behaviors that will bring you closer to your goals.
- If you are unable to attend the sign-up session, but would like to take part in the challenge, please send an email to aac@uconn.edu.
- Students who have signed up for the challenge will be asked to fill out a short survey several times throughout the semester and will have access to the other students’ responses. All responses will be anonymous. Students will be able to compare their level of commitment, behavior, and preferred strategies to other students taking part in the challenge.
One of the benefits of the challenge is the powerful motivating force of publicly announcing and committing to your goals. Students who have signed-up for the challenge and responded to the surveys will be invited to a study break at the beginning of Finals Week. The study break will include refreshments, discussion, and stress management activities. This will also provide the opportunity for students to ask questions about time management, study techniques, and the specific challenges of final exams. |
