Declaring a Major in Sociology
To declare a major in sociology, stop by the department office in Manchester Hall and meet with Kathy Covey, program assistant. She is normally her office Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 11:30 and from 12:30 to 4:00.You do not need to make an appointment, but you can call 860-486-4423 to make sure that she will be in.
When you meet with Kathy, she will review the program requirements with you and assign you an academic advisor from the sociology faculty. If you want to request a particular faculty member as an advisor, you may do so. After meeting with Kathy, you should meet with your advisor to plan which courses you will take.
The Sociology Department will not be accepting new majors from: October 10th - November 21st
