General Information
UConn Outdoors is one of the diverse programs and services brought to you by UConn Recreation. We operate out of the the UConn Adventure Center (UAC) located on the 2nd floor of the Student Union. Our goal is to offer fun and safe, instructional adventure experiences. We want you to challenge yourself, get away from campus and make great new friends!

Our staff includes outdoor professionals, qualified volunteers and fellow UConn students trained in various outdoor adventure sports and all certified in Wilderness First Aid. We have led successful programs for the past 13 years throughout New England, the continental United States and beyond. We look forward to taking you on the adventure of your choice.
Program Registration
- Registration must be done in person at the UAC
- Participants must provide valid UConn ID (Legal ID if guest)
- Non-student are required to show proof of insurance
- All participants will be asked to read, complete and sign the UConn Outdoors registration form.
- Guests (1) are allowed to participate on UConn Outdoors programs (free offerings not included) if sponsored by a participant registered for the same UConn Outdoors program.
Program “No Show” Policy
Participants may cancel their registration by the close of business (6:00PM) no later than three business days prior to the start of the program in which they are registered (ex. Tuesday 6:00PM for a Saturday program.) No shows or cancellations following the deadline date will result in a $25 ”No Show” charge to your UConn Fee bill.
Payment
Programs requiring payment must be done so in full at the time of registration. Payment can be made in the form of Husky Bucks, cash or check payable to “UConn Recreational Services.” There are no refunds for programs in which payment is required.
Cancellation Policy
Most of our programs take place rain or shine. However, if the situation warrants it due to unsafe conditions, we reserve the right to cancel a program at any time. In the event of a cancellation, any paid fees will be refunded. Additionally, UConn Outdoors reserves the right to alter program itinerary items as needed.
Information Meetings
Some programs require attendance of a pre-trip information meeting. Meetings are held in the UConn Adventure Center. Dates and times are listed on the program information screen once you click on the trip in the above "UConn Outdoors Events Calendar". Attendance is mandatory unless otherwise arranged in advance with UConn Outdoors.
Group Outings

We have created all types, from day-long bike outings, climbing center rentals, geocaching scavenger hunts and even complete retreat experiences. Contact the UConn Adventure Center to discuss activities, locations and pricing.
Equipment Rental
The UConn Adventure Center rents high quality outdoor equipment at affordable prices for a wide variety of adventure sports including: cross country skis, snowshoes, backpacks, sleeping bags, tents (both backpacking and camp sizes) & mountain bikes.
