Reservation Policies
Please be aware that these policies are in line with our informal recreation philosophy and at no time shall the reserved space be used for competition. These policies are subject to review, and may be amended without prior notice. EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 3, 2008 TO MARCH 8, 2009.
Greer Fieldhouse
All reservations are by court. Groups may reserve one or two courts at a time. (i.e. for
soccer, two courts may be more appropriate).
- Reservations must be made on a weekly basis, starting every Monday. All reservations
will go through the Coordinator of Customer Services. By phone, 486.5065, or in
person during office hours, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM 4:30 PM
- During Intramural Season, Sunday thru Friday, Greer Fieldhouse will always have one
court open for drop-in recreation. In the event of inclement weather your reservation
may be cancelled without prior notice.
- Groups may reserve space on the hour, for two hours only, once a week. A group
representative may reserve for their group only. There can be no sharing of reservation
time.
- During the evening, if the next spot is available, and no other group is waiting to use the
court, then the on-site group may stay for an extra hour. (Limit is one extra hour in
addition to the reservation time).
- A group may play a pick-up game if there is room available without a reservation. But for
one hour only, or until the next group arrives.
- Any group of students may make a reservation. For example sport clubs, residences,
Intramural teams.
- At least 8 individuals must be present for a reservation to be kept. Otherwise it will
revert to open recreation. 16 people must be present for a 2-court reservation.
- If the group does not show within five minutes of the reservation time, the courts revert
to open recreation (see policy number five).
Guyer Gymnasium
Follow the same procedures as explained for Greer Fieldhouse. These are the exceptions:
- Only one court in Guyer Gymnasium will be available for reservation.
- Guyer Gym will not be available for reservations on Fridays, due to our Happy Hour
Program, or when indoor Intramurals are in season (Weekdays and Sunday ONLY).
- At least 8 individuals must be present for a reservation to be kept.
Equipment
- Groups are responsible for the set-up and break down of courts, i.e. soccer players must
set up the goals and store them properly at the end of reservation time. The Lead in
charge will give access to the equipment, when they are stored somewhere other than
Guyer Gym and Greer Fieldhouse, or are locked down, i.e. volleyball nets and crank. If
groups are unsure of any set-up procedure, please ask for assistance.
- For sports equipment, players must go to the equipment cage and check-out the
appropriate equipment with an UConn ID. Equipment is for daily use only, and must be
returned at the end of evening, unless other arrangements have been made with the
Coordinator of Customer Services.
- The pit barrier may not be moved by anyone other than the athletic staff. The pit should
not be covered by anyone other than the athletic staff.
- Privileges to the SRF may be suspended if policies are violated.
