Undergraduate Information

Current Number of Majors: 1000

Initial Requirements (Before the end of your third semester):

  • During your first three semesters, work toward fulfilling the course distribution requirements of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Take General Psychology I (PSYC 132) and General Psychology II (PSYC 135).
  • Take Elementary Concepts of Statistics (STAT 110V) or Introduction to Statistics (STAT 100V).
  • Take a variety of introductory-level courses that may be prerequisites to 200-level courses that you will need as "Related Courses" for the psychology major.

Declaration of Psychology Major

  • See Mrs. Linda Ferrell in Room 100 in The Psychology Center. She will assign you to an advisor who is a faculty member in psychology.
  • Meet with your advisor during his/her office hours and/or during specially-designated preregistration times. (You may see your advisor any time you like--not only for preregistration.)

Five Possible Campuses

You can earn a four-year undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut at any one of the three campuses: Storrs, Stamford, and the TriCampus of Hartford/Waterbury/Torrington. Students taking psychology at the Avery Point campus must travel to one of the other campuses for some of their psychology courses.
