Biographical Note:

Dr. Reyes' recent work includes research and presentations in the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico and South America, as well as discussion of educational issues outside the University, as the host of Education Matters on Connecticut's CTV14 and through her involvement in activities for the Dioceses of Norwich. Reyes taught Spanish at Le Moyne College, Syracuse University, and the University of Colorado at Boulder where she was also a Research Assistant in the Migrant Program and taught Foundations of Education to pre-service teachers. She has taught at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, where she designed an Honors course: Ethnography of the Workplace. She then joined Rhode Island College to teach Cultural Foundations of Education, School Diversity, and Classroom Research for Teachers and to coordinate field placements in schools as well as the Teacher Academy, a college high school partnership to attract minorities into teaching careers. Upon completion of her fifth year at Rhode Island College, Reyes received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor and became Visiting Faculty of the Ethnic Studies Program at Brown University. In Rhode Island, Reyes was on the revision team for the Mission and Goals of the Providence School Department and was a member of the Statewide Assessment of Learning and Teaching team. In Puerto Rico she worked with TRIO Programs, both as director and grant writer for Student Support Services at the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey.
