Student Internships

Students wishing to receive course credit for an internship may do so by registering for PRLS 212 Field Internship in Latino Studies. Students are required to work 9-18 hours per week in a cultural and/or community oriented setting and must be in 5th semester standing. The Hartford - Communication internships program with the Vice President of Marketing

Department of Children and Families - Graduate Internship, 18 hours/week to work on special projects for individuals working towards a Masters degree in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations. Intern would report to Mr. Kleeblatt who reports directly to the Commissioner and is in constant contact with the news media.

ASPIRA of Connecticut – fosters education and positive leadership development of youth.

The Hispanic Health Council – provides research, outreach and advocacy issues relating to Latino mental and physical health.

Latinos/as Contra SIDA, Inc. – a comprehensive HIV/AIDS organization serving Latino patients in the Hartford area.

The Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration – brings issues affecting the quality of lie of all Puerto Ricans to the attention of key policymakers and legislators in Washington.

State of Connecticut Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission – a part of the legislative branch advocating for the advancement of the Latino and Puerto Rican community.

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center – Interns needed to act as intermediaries between clinic and patients by assisting with forms, translating, answering questions.

Field placement with Univision New England, the region's first full-power provider of Spanish language programming. Interns will be involved in all aspects of production, including videography, sounds, production assistant on remote productions, editing, logging videotapes, translations and other duties.
