The Latino Expo began in 2000 at the Hartford Civic Center. Shortly after the first expo the US Small Business Administration nominated and named them the "Minority Small Business Advocates of the Year". At the first expo, Latinos heard their message and attended the function to learn how to start their own business.
By year 4 in Hartford, the attendance over the 2 days of the expo grew to 8,000 people. The offer of free admission has attracted families from all over the region interested in learning about business, college, health care, career opportunities, products and services.
The expo has grown and so has the number and locations of the expos. They are now offered in Harford, Westchester, NJ, Boston and Springfield, MA.
