Biographical Note:
Her research cuts across specialties in communication by considering human (intercultural) and mediated communication (media). Her inquiries are necessarily interdisciplinary and embrace Communication, Chicana/o-Latina/o, Ethnic and Women Studies. She advances her research by scrutinizing the interplay of ethnicity/race, culture and gender in communication processes--particularly in Audience Media Use. Dynamics change over time and across groups of study. Her multimethod approaches have included bilingual (English-Spanish) multi-item telephone and self-administered surveys, journalistic style and ethnographic interviews, field and participant observation.
