The Connecticut Association of Latinos in Higher Education (CALAHE) announces its 25th Annual Conference to be held on June 8, 2007 at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. The organization was established in 1978 and has promoted and advocated for full access, participation, and retention of Latinas/os thoughout Connecticut higher education.
Next year’s conference theme “Advancing and Preparing The Next Generation of Latino Leaders in Higher Education,” calls for participants of the conference to examine the issues affecting the education of Latino youth, focusing on strategies to prepare them for leadership roles. We will also have the opportunity to explore the current situation of professionals in higher education and examine strategies to promote an equitable Latino representation in leadership positions in the Connecticut higher education.
Over 200 participants representing colleges and universities, secondary schools, non-profit organizations, community agencies, businesses, political and corporate are expected to attend this conference. Distinguished speakers, concurrent workshops, a Latino cuisine luncheon, seminars, discussion panels, and a networking reception are some of the activities offered to participants for the day long event.
For more information about presenting at the conference, please call (860) 832-2285. More detailed information is available on the CALAHE website at www.calahe.org.
