Numeric Only: Displays only numbers. Messages are sent to a pager by calling the pager's phone number, and entering a numeric message or callback number using your telephone's keypad.
AlphaNumeric: Displays both numeric and text messages. Numeric messages are sent by calling the pager's phone number. Text messages are sent via email or a web interface.
Nationwide Coverage: Pagers have a default northeast coverage plan (Norfolk, VA to southern Maine). For the page to receive messages in other parts of the country, it must subscribe to the Nationwide Coverage plan. This can be added to either Numeric or Alpha pagers.
Operator Dispatch: Enables text messaging without access to a computer. Callers dial a toll free number, enter the PIN number assigned to the pager, and a live operator transcribes their message to a text page.
Toll Free Number: Provides a nationwide toll-free number (800, 888, etc.). Pagers have CT-Toll Free numbers, so most people calling the pager within Connecticut will not incur toll charges. The nationwide toll free number allows people outside of CT to call the pager without incurring toll charges.
24 Hr. Voicemail: Provides the caller the ability to leave a voicemail message on the pager. The pager's phone number is displayed on the pager to indicate there is a new voice message. (This is separate from the University's voicemail system.)
Voicemail Outcall: Enables the user's University voicemail box to call the pager when new messages are received. The pager displays "6-5555" indicating that the user should check his UConn voicemail.
Replacement Charge: If your pager is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair, your department will be bill $120 for the replacement unit. If the pager stops functioning due to a defect, it will be replaced at no charge.
Overcall Charges: AlphaNumeric pagers have a monthly plan allowance of 200 pages. Any pages over and above that allowance are charged an additional $.25 each.
