The Student Support Services (SSS) Peer Education Team consists of SSS Peer Advisors and SSS Tutors.
SSS Peer Advisors assist first year students in their transition to college life. SSS Peer Advisors work as paraprofessionals with the SSS Counseling staff providing academic support and other essential resources. Each Peer Advisor determines number of advisees s/he will work with. Responsibilities include training, weekly group meetings, one on one appointments as needed, and regular documentation of student contacts. The SSS Peer Advisement Program awards Level II Mentoring Certification to Advisors who meet requirements of the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
If you have a minimum 2.5 GPA and want to work with first year students, you can be part of the SSS success story.
SSS Tutoring is offered Monday through Thursday. Actual tutoring times may vary each semester depending on the tutor’s availability and students' needs. SSS tutors undergo continuous training each semester leading to certification by the College Reading and Learning Association and require a 3.0 GPA in tutored courses. Student Support Services is a TRIO-based program. If you would like more information about SSS please visit http://cap.uconn.edu/sss.html.
