Program Mission
The Community Standards Office is responsible for the implementation of Responsibilities of Community Life: The Student Code. The peer board consists of three students who determine the future probationary status of the student. Board members have the unique opportunity to learn critical thinking, analysis and effective communication skills.

Required Skills
Applicants need to maintain a 2.7 grade point average or higher and be in good student conduct standing, specifically meaning those not on University Probation.

Training
We provide several hours of training at the beginning of each semester which involve learning about the student code process, sanctioning, group dynamics, critical thinking and communication. Board members participate in a series of mock hearing before hearing an actual case. After each hearing board members debrief allowing for more intentional conversation among the board members as they strive for consistency with the process and decision making.
 
     
  Basic Description  
 
   
Description We are looking for a diverse representation of our student body. Students must be at least a second semester student to be a board member.
Type of Peer Educator Board members must have an understanding of what it means to be community member and a commitment to the UCONN Creed and the academic mission of the institution. Additionally, the individual must work collaboratively with other students, be an effective communicator and open minded.
Responsibilities Board members will determine the probationary status of a student’s future. Using academics, conduct, co-curricula and other community involvement.
Type of Student Serviced Any student on University Probation that wants to come before the peer board.
