Proper Permit Use
Your permit must be affixed to the lower inside right-hand passenger side of the front windshield. Do not apply the permit in any other way as it will be considered a violation and subject your vehicle to ticketing. If you have a temporary permit, it must be clearly displayed on the passenger side of the dashboard. If you have a garage permit you must have both your permit and your keycard to access the garage.
It is your responsibility to know where your permit type allows you to park and to park in those designated areas Monday through Friday 7am - 5pm, unless posted otherwise. After 5pm and on weekends, vehicles may park in any legal parking space that has not been restricted, reserved for a specific vehicle, or otherwise limited as to its use. However, overnight parking is not allowed in commuter lots between 1 am and 5 am. Please note that parking at Charter Oak, Hilltop, Mansfield and Northwood Apartments is restricted to students with an appropriate permit twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Notes left on vehicles will not be accepted in place of a permit or as a valid reason to be in violation of any parking regulation or posted sign.
Your parking permit and garage keycard are for your use only. They are not transferable to any other person for any reason. If you share your permit you will subject the vehicle to ticketing and towing and expose yourself and others to disciplinary action. Any misuse of a University permit can result in the revocation of parking privileges for a minimum of one year. Individuals operating a vehicle with a lost or stolen permit are subject to possible arrest in addition to sanctions available through the courts and student code of conduct.
Misuse of garage permits or keycards, including sharing a keycard, will result in a one month suspension (while attending classes) from parking in the garage. A second offense will result in the revocation of the garage permit and the issuance of a permit that only allows parking in C Lot. The difference between the cost of a garage permit and a commuter permit WILL NOT be refunded.
Misuse of any State Handicapped parking permit will result in ticketing, booting or towing. The misused permit will be confiscated and returned to the issuing agency and parking privileges will be revoked for a minimum of one year.
