Rules and Regulations for Shuttle Use

Shuttles are available to anyone. No UConn identification or per ride payment is required for their use.

Please do not enter buses through the rear door. You may become injured, and in the interest of safety, it is no permitted.

After getting of a bus, cross the street behind rather than in front of the bus to increase your visibility to other vehicles.

Standing in the stairwells of the bus (front or rear) is NOT permitted.  This is against Federal DOT regulations.

Drivers are not permitted to pick up or drop off passengers at any place that is not a designated bus stop.

Using the Schedule

Due to time constraints, buses will only stop at a bus stop if passengers are waiting at the stop or if a passenger on board requests a stop, by pulling the stop request cord.  Please do not expect the bus to stop otherwise.

Incase of inclement weather, Transportation Services will make every effort to continue running the shuttle service as close as possible to posted schedules.  However, in the case of severe weather, we may be forced to shut down or reduce service in conjunction with the University, in the interest of safety.

Rider Responsibilities

Each driver has the right to deny service to any disruptive person.  The UConn Police Department will provide assistance when required.

Plan to be at the bus stop 5 minutes before your bus is scheduled to arrive.  To be sure you are boarding the correct bus, look for the electronic display panels on the front and sides of the bus.

No Pets allowed.  Service animals only.

When you see the bus getting close to your destination, pull the buzzer cord located above the windows.  Try to pull the cord a reasonable distance before your destination so the driver can make a smooth, safe stop.

Smoking is prohibited by law on all public transit vehicles.  Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted in any state vehicles, including UConn buses.
