Map Reading for Site Plan Review

The Map Reading for Site Plan Review workshop is a part of CLEAR's Land Use Academy (see note below). Upon occasion, it may also be taught as a standalone class. The workshop helps new commissioners better understand how to read and evaluate maps and site plans and how to assess impacts to resources. The workshop also covers the essential components of maps and materials submitted in a typical site plan. Participants gain practical skills as they work together in hands-on exercises with scales, maps and site plans.

Note: The Land Use Academy includes three core courses and is taught in a day-long conference-style event. The training is offered four times annually in locations around the state and also includes Roles and Responsibilities of Land Use Commissions workshop and Legal Requirements and Procedures of Land Use Decision Making (given by members of the CT Bar Association).

The Land Use Academy is the state's official certification program for basic education for local land use officials.

As a standalone workshop it is free of charge and about 1.5 hours long. We recommend scheduling 2 hours to allow for discussion and questions. Contact John Rozum at john.rozum@uconn.edu or call (860) 345-5225 to schedule a workshop.
