Services

University Mail Services restricts collection/distribution to mail items only. Freight, supplies, records, etc. are handled by Central Stores who may be reached at 486-6297.

USPS in-bound mail and internally generated mail is sorted, then delivered to departments and Residence Halls, between approximately 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Rt. 5, the Depot Campus is serviced between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

USPS out-bound mail requiring postage is processed for pick-up by the USPS at 2:30 p.m. and the remainder of posted mail leaves UMS at 3:30 p.m., the last run of the day, to meet the USPS 4:00 p.m. deposit deadline. The USPS closes at 5:00 p.m. If you have missed the "3:30" truck, you may bring out-bound mail to UMS by 4:30 p.m. to obtain postage and then take the mail to the Post Office in Storrs.

Courier Service to UConn Hartford, the UConn Health Center, School of Social Work, School of Law, MBA Program Downtown, Legislative Office Building and several other locations, is provided by Central Stores. This mail is sorted and prepared at UMS for pick-up by the Stores courier each morning. Questions regarding this service should be directed to Central Stores at 6-6297.

Statewide Courier Service is provided by the Department of Administrative Services (DAS), in Hartford. This mail is sorted and prepared at UMS for pick-up by the DAS courier each morning. Questions regarding this service should be directed to DAS at 860-566-4400. UConn Stamford is on this route.

Other UC Campuses - The following require postage, and therefore a complete destination and return address with FRS account:

Residence Halls/Student Mail - The USPS delivers student mail directly to residence hall mailrooms. UMS delivers USPS automated mail and UConn-generated Student mail to residence hall mailrooms. UMS delivers accountable mail for students to each of the four (North, South, East, West) Complex Offices responsible for the residence halls in their area. Fed Ex and UPS may deliver student packages to these Complex offices.
