Population genetics

  •     Kent Holsinger’population genetics course homepage (EEB 348).
    • Applets from his course on the genetic drift of allele frequency (no selection).  You can set the staring frequency, the population size, and the number of generations.  Different runs are overlaid in different colors.   Try it out with different population sizes.  How many runs do you need to do till a gene with starting frequency of .1 is fixed within 250 generations in a population of 100?
    • Applets from his course on evolution of allele frequency in a population of diploids using a deterministic approach.  You can set the relative fitness of the two homozygous and the heterozygous individuals. With which combinations of fitness values can you get a stable state with both alleles being present?
  • JAVA applets from Alan R. Lemmon that illustrate selection, drift, migration and other things.
The in browser version worked for me using ie5 http://www.evotutor.org/
  • JAVA applets on Daisy world flat and round from Yales CCE courseware at http://gingerbooth.com/courseware/index.html
