Outlook 2007 Functional Account IMAP Configuration

Outlook can be used to access Exchange using secure IMAP

Follow the steps below to configure Outlook to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.

  1. Open Outlook 2007, go to the Tools menu, and choose Account Settings.
  2. Choose New.
  3. Choose Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, HTTP, then click Next.
  4. Choose manually configure server settings or additional server types. Click Next.

  5. Choose Internet E-mail. Click Next.
  6. Fill out the following information:
  7. Your Name: Name of the resource account
    E-mail address: email of the resource account (i.e. huskydog@uconn.edu)
    Account Type: IMAP
    Incoming mail server: exchange.uconn.edu
    Outgoing mail server: smtp.uconn.edu
    User name: uconn\netid\resource # (i.e. uconn\lgm02001\resource0123)
    Password: exchange password (your personal exchange password)



    We recommend that you don't check remember password for security reasons

  8. Choose More Settings, then Advanced. Change Use the following type of encryption connections to SSL. Click OK.
  9. You are now back to the Change E-mail account screen. Click on Test Account Settings. Click Next and Finish.
  10. You will receive the message that your account has been successfully set up.

Outlook will now be set up to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.
