E-mail students in Exchange using Outlook 2003

UConn students are not using Exchange 2003, however you can still search for them, and all staff, by setting up a Directory Service in Outlook 2003.

Follow the steps below to add the full UConn directory to Outlook 2003:

  1. In Outlook, click on the Tools menu and choose E-mail Accounts
  2. Select Add a new directory or address book and click Next.
  3. Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP) then click Next.
  4. Enter ldap.uconn.edu for Server Name.

  6. Click More Settings.
  7. Display Name: University of Connecticut .
  8. Click on Search tab.
  9. Search Base: dc=uconn,dc=edu.

  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Next, then click Finish.

Outlook 2003 is now set up to search for all people at the University of Connecticut, including students.

Follow these steps to use Outlook to send to students:
  1. Create a new e-mail message and click the To button
  2. Select University of Connecticut, click Advanced, then Find.
  3. In the Find window, you must use the First Name and Last Name fields to search (not the Display Name field).

  5. Click OK to search.
  6. Click once on the recipient, then click To.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Send to send the e-mail.
