Human Capital Management
This project is an effort to enhance the human resources functionality and update the technology platform for our Human Resource enterprise system. This effort will replace the existing and aging Genesys system and will operate on a more modern system platform. This significant enhancement will enable us to take advantage of web-based solutions as well as align the technology and technical skills to that of our other enterprise systems.
The project will be accomplished in two major phases. The first is designed to get us to the new solution maintaining our existing functionality while benefiting from new improvements provided by the new system. During this phase we will also be implementing a new reporting (datamart) solution. Core-CT will continue to be the source for payroll information however interfaces between the Core-CT system the UConn HR system will be continued and enhanced.
The transition to the new system is targeted for October, 2007. The project began in January, 2006 and will continue through June, 2008. The following provides an overview of project phases:Phase 1 Scope
- Existing Genesys functionality will be implemented in the new Oracle/PeopleSoft HCMS system.
- The Genesys system will be discontinued.
- Design a business process for electronic applicant recruiting.
- Implement a solution to accept resumes online.
- Integrate the planned Job Search application with the new system.
- Maintain the current Focus reporting instance to provide reporting continuity and aid in the systems transition.
- A datamart solution will be implemented to provide a baseline for future reporting development.
- Replace HR/Payroll Winja applications functionality (view paycheck, view benefits, view demographics, view emergency contact, student payroll authorization process) with new self-service capabilities.
- Convert electronic records history information based on business need.
Phase 2 Scope
- Enhance employee and manager self-service transactions (business process improvement).
- Exploit the reporting capabilities of the new datamart reporting solution.
- Implement Time & Labor and accrual management functionality.
- Convert the Job Search application to PeopleSoft.
- Identify and evaluate shadow systems for potential enhancements.
- Analyze and evaluate potential business process improvements for HR client stake holders.
