WIDESCREEN VIEWING OF CONTROL-D REPORTS

A default screen setup for 3270 Emulators displays 80 characters wide, to view reports with data up to 132 characters wide you must modify your screen display option.

WIDESCREEN SETUP

  1. To create a customized mainframe session using Windows Explorer, open the application by clicking on the start button button in the lower left-hand corner of your Windows desktop. This should bring up a menu similar to the following:

  2. Drag the mouse over the menu item labeled Programs. This should pop up a secondary menu similar to the following:

    The item you want is the one labeled HostExplorer. Move the mouse cursor over this item; an additional menu will pop up. Click on the label TN3270.

  3. The Open Session window will come up.
  4. Locate the folder entitled 3270 and single-click the plus (+) sign, to the left of the folder. After doing this you should see a sub-menu item entitled Default.

  5. Click on the New Profile button. A HostExplorer Session Info window will pop up similar to the following:

  6. Fill in the following information:
    Profile Name - type in a meaningful name, this is what you will click on to connect to CONTROL-D
    Choose a profile type - place the cursor on the down arrow, click once, from the drop-down menu highlight 3270 and click once to select it.
    Host Name - must be uconnmvs.uconn.edu

    Your window should look similar to the following:

    Click on the OK button.

  7. The Open Session window will return with the Profile Name you created.

  8. Click once on the Edit Profile button. The following screen will come up.

  9. On the left side of the Session Profile screen, click on the plus (+) sign in front of the item labeled Terminal. You will see a list of items contained in this folder.

  10. Click once on 3270. On the right side of the screen check the box for Model5 (27x132) by clicking once with the mouse. Click the OK button. The Open Session window returns.

CONNECT TO THE NEW SESSION AND CREATE A SHORTCUT ON THE DESKTOP

  1. To connect to the New Session you just created click on the Connect button on the right side of the screen.

  2. CREATING A SHORTCUT

  3. From the mainframe session menu bar click once on the File tab. From the drop down menu select Save Session Profile.

  4. Highlight your session name and click in the Create Shortcut box. Click on the Save box.

  5. A new window Browse for Folder will pop up. In the box under the label Choose the folder where you'd like to save the shortcut, locate the item labeled Desktop. If you do not see this label you may have to use the scroll bar arrows on the right of the window to move up to the top of the list.
  6. Click once on Desktop to select it then click on the OK button.

  7. You will be returned to the mainframe session screen. Access CONTROL-D as described in the previous section. When you close the session you should new see the CONTROL-D shortcut icon shortcut icon on your desktop.
