A Guide to Making Catalog Changes 2012-2013 Undergraduate Catalog
The deadline for submitting changes for the 2012-2013 edition of the Undergraduate Catalog is Thuesday, November 10. All actions approved by the end of the Fall 2011 Semester will be included in the next Catalog.
- Use the link to Catalog Files 2012-2013 which will take you to the newest Undergraduate Catalog files. All submissions MUST be based on this current information. Do not use files from the current 2011-2012 on-line catalog .
- Check to see that we have made all the changes that have appeared in College, School, and Senate Minutes between January and May 2011. Changes and additions are shown in blue font. Deleted requirements are shown in
blue strikethrough font. Advice and problems are shown in red font. If something is missing, send an email or memo with a brief description and Minutes type and date.
- If you have editorial changes (such as instructor name and faculty list changes), send an email or memo.
- Send emails or memos noting all pending approvals that you expect will be completed by the end of the fall 2012 semester. (Later, when approval is complete, send a reminder with an approval date.)
- Catalog distribution has changed, but all rules and deadlines remain the same.
- Although paper copies of the Undergraduate Catalog are no longer printed for distribution, the document is available in PDF files to print either in sections or in its entirety.
Special notes to the C&C Committee Chairs of Colleges and Schools
- Many department C&C representatives have difficulty determining when additional approvals are needed. It would be helpful if, following College and School course and academic program approvals, reminders would note that further approval is necessary for implementations.
- Senate committees review all additions, deletions, and changes made to the following types of courses:
- Content Area General Education
- Skills (Q, W, and WQ)
- Numbered as 1000’s and 2000’s
- S/U grading
- Some Minors require further approvals:
- Interdisciplinary Minors offered by more than one School/College
- Any Minor that uses a course/courses from another School/College as a possible way to fill a requirement
- Encourage departments to plan changes well in advance of targeted implementation dates and use the Registrar’s earliest Effective Dates Chart to determine how quickly changes can be accomplished.
